Indifferent about Ultraviolence being a single but hopefully it's controversial

Audio commentary for each standard track

Listen on Soundcloud.com

Some interesting tid-bits:

- "Ultraviolence" was originally a song called "Melancholia" that Lana re-worked to become the title track

- "Old Money" is the final version of  "Methamphetamines" and she didn't realize at first that she had used part of the Love Theme from the 1960's Romeo And Juliet film for OM's intrumental:

The songs deserves much better than another instagram filter video. Part of me thinks that the teaser clip is not frrom the video tho... but we'll see.

According to LDR Online the real video we should be anticipating is something for Rockaway a project with James Franco.

Wasn't the director supposed to be Nail Elderkin? :tina: I never know anything about Lana's projects until they get released, it's always confusing to know what's going on

Either way,I hope that there is a better video for the song. Rn the fans are giving me "Gaga will release the real album cover/TEOG video later" teas.

Okay can I please hear some opinions on the production/mixing of UV?

Don't get me wrong, i love it so much. Musically and lyrically i love it more than BTD and Paradise. The thing is, those albums (at least to my ears) have a really great production/mixing/mastering job. I have a fairly good sound system and when I listen to BTD and Paradise I can pull the volume all the way up and it sounds beautiful (the bass, the strings, the voice all is very clean and crisp). After listening to UV many many many many times, on the other hand, sounds like shit when i crank it up. Particularly parts where her voice is higher like in Shades of Cool when she says "you... are invincible..." it gets really distorted. Yes, i'm listening to a CD and not mp3s. Does anyone else get the feeling that the recordings were just made rushed, cheaply, carelessly, and that the post production was either minimal or they just simply couldn't fix the bad recordings?

Another thing that makes me think this is Black Beauty. It starts off just like the Demo version but then drums, guitars etc were added to that. Basically it seems like some stuff was just layered over the actual demo track and it was not a redo of the actual demo. On the same note, The "radio mix" of West Coast sound a lot better than the album version. Not saying is a better version but it just sounds cleaner and easier on the ears. I know it was mentioned when West Coast was being promoted (that it had several versions/mixes) that it leads me to believe they just didn't know where to go with the mixing. They kept trying different what i think was just volumes on the vocals and instruments.

Anyone else unhappy with the crappy mixing? Or even think that?
